I met a girl at work and I do like her a lot. We've gotten to know each other a little bit since we started working together. She has a lot of good qualities and I see a lot of potential in her, I know she wants to do better but she keeps getting sucked into the same lifestyle I.E. drinking, gambling and substance abuse... She is also a single mother with 3 kids, and two of them live with her and her baby daddy. They are not married and she wants to get rid of him she's talked about it several times.
In the last week or so I've started recognizing these problems that she has. Is it worth my time to pursue her, or should I just try to be a true friend and be there for her? I have never used drugs and I never drink or have any kids of my own. But I'm wondering if it is worth the risk. What are the chances of this kind of relationship like this working out in the long run? I'm 28 years old and I'm ready to find a companion and settle down. I do really love her, but I don't want to make things any worse for either of us.
