  • Rules for Relationship Talk Forum

Due to the nature of the forum, it is probably best if you do not include personal information in posts.

This site relies on it's content. Search engines index that content and send people to the site. If we were to delete posts, that content would no longer exist and we would have broken links in the search engines. That is bad for the site.

Because of this, we generally do not delete posts once they have been made, especially if it has already sparked a discussion. I might change your user name for you or change some identifying information in a post at your request but we really do not like to delete posts. They can be very helpful to others going through the same situations. If you don't want it posted on the internet... simply don't post it.

We also do not delete accounts for people since that deletes posts. We can change user names and remove any personal identifying information on the account.

The following rules list the most serious violations:
    1. No Hacking - This should go without saying, but you are not permitted to hack the board. Guessing someone else's password and succeeding counts as hacking. Members who hack will instantly be permanently banned without any warnings.
    2. No Discrimination - You may not insult members based on their religion, race, sex, political beliefs, or whether they are gay or straight. This is worse than flaming, because it also hurts other members of the board who fall into the category you insult. Love Advice Forum is a place where everyone is equal, and discrimination will NOT be tolerated!
    3. No Bullying - Do not pick on other members. The worst kind of bullying is where new members are picked on. This hurts the member as well as the board.
    4. No Flaming - Flaming harms the nice atmosphere of Love Advice Forum. It also causes thread's to go off topic, and most importantly, it hurts the person being flamed. The victim may defend themselves against any accusations made to them, but may not make any additional accusations to the flamer (which also counts as flaming).
    5. No Advertising - You are not permitted to make money using Love Advice Forum. You are not allowed to use the member list to obtain Instant Messaging screen names to harass people to purchase a product from you.
    6. No Illegal Activity - You are not allowed to break the law using Love Advice Forum. This can get Love Advice Forum into legal trouble.
    7. No Spamming - You are not allowed to put links to other websites in the text of your messages for promotional reasons. You can have a link in your signature IF you are actively answering questions and trying to help others without referring to your link or your website as the solution. If you are spamming and have not contributed in any way to the forum (by answering peoples questions), you will be deleted and sent to Spam-o-Matic. Other violations may just get a warning depending on the situation.
If you break one of these rules, the following penalties will apply with the exception of breaking the rule "No Hacking" which immediately results in a permanent ban and the No Spamming rule which has already been discussed:
    1. Warning - Depending on how serious a violation is, you may be issued a warning first
    2. Temporary ban - People who cause problems will be given a temporary ban depending on the severity of the actions, infraction points the user may have, past experience the board has had with the user and other variables. This is at the opinion and discretion of me, the LoveAdmin.
    3. Permanent ban - At this point, it is obvious that will never learn your lesson, thus, a permanent ban is necessary to be rid of the problems you cause.

Because that didn't sound "techie" enough, I think. Flaming, trolling, etc., were slang expressions that became popular when the internet discussion boards did.
